This week, we have a conversation with Kelvin Thuku, Programme Manager at Ngong Road Children's Foundation (NRCF) in Nairobi, Kenya. This conversion falls on the footsteps of a podcast published just a week ago, from a sit down conversation in February. But how quickly things have changed for all of us. Today, instead of managing the Computer Lab, Kelvin's title and role has been elevated, and his focus these days is on addressing the immediate needs of students supported by Friends of Ngong Road through the "Food from Friends" initiative.
So today's episode starts by Kelvin helping describe the conditions in Nairobi's slums in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the work of NRCF to address those pressing needs.
For more information and regular updates on the status of the pandemic in Nairobi's slums as experienced by students and their families sponsored and supported by FONR, go to www.ngongroad.org.
In the next few weeks, the Illumini podcast plan to conduct more conversations with NRCF case workers working with primary, secondary, and post-secondary aged students.
